First the bad news. I don't know of any way to activate an non-repsonsive computer with out restarting it. Secondly, the best advice I got over 20 years ago when I first started with computers is save early, save often. If you are working on anything, ALWAYS save before you leave the computer. Secondly, I personally don't save anything on my hard drive. Everything goes to a disk. That way, if I have to reformat my hard drive or the systems crashes, I may have to go through the hassle of re-loadign programs, but I never loose data I have created. I also keep a copy of my address book on a disk as well.
