How does a music artist make a song?

[Edit]

Find a studio

I assume that you are asking how to record a song that you already have ready.

Luckily for you, with the rapid rate that music recording technology is advancing, professional recording studios are becoming more and more common. Whether you are a solo vocalist of an entire band, you should be able to find a studio in your area that will be both affordable and professional. My advice to you would be to look in the phone book, or online, for a studio that used a Pro Tools system. I would advise against using an ADAT studio as the technology is getting old and you won't be able to do as much in as little time as you could in a Pro Tools studio. If you can't find a Pro Tools studio, then you should find one that has a Cubase, Logic Pro or Cakewalk based studio.

Once you find a studio, you can find out about their rates. Usually, they will charge by the hour for studio time. The last thing to do after this is to save up the money that you need and practice, practice, practice. Why practice so much? While it's certainly true that you can overdub and do as many takes as you need to get that perfect performance, the better you know the song the less takes you will need and the less studio time it will require for you to finish your project and this means that you will save money.

EDIT BY PETROS-EROTAS :

I would recommend you try and get yourself a copy of either Reason, Cubase, Logic. It all depends on what type of music you make of corse and this way you may have to buy the software, but once its your own you will have unlimited time to use it and get the hang of it. Probably alot more economically freindly that hireing a studio. I would recommend Reason if you are a solo artist but know that Reason does NOT allow you to record audio, so if you are planning to record say vocals, or a live instrument ect, i would recommend Cubase ass that is the next easiest program.

Hope this helps

"MAKING" A SONG

Cakewalk "Sonar" Pro is also an excellent computer recording software tool. Decent price, and takes about 3 months to really "master" the software. I also have versions of Reason & Cubase, but always find myself reverting back to the Cakewalk. You'll probably also need to invest in a sound card upgrade. But the rewards are worth it: no need to pay a recording studio any more - I've personally put together 36 track CD quality recordings completly on my own and you take as long as you like to edit your brains out !! Great Stuff !!
