Now we are given that a chicken and a half can lay an egg and a half in a day and a half.

So it is safe to say that 1-1/2 chicken takes 3 days to lay 3 eggs.

that means 3 chicken lay 6 eggs in 3 days

which means that 1 chicken can lay 2 eggs in 3 days

this means that one chicken will take 3*6 days to lay 2*6(12) eggs.

so 1 chicken takes 18 days to lay 12 eggs which is a dozen.
