This is not a riddle until you add the second half - "I have two coins in my pocket, amounting to 30 cents. One of them is not a quarter. What are they?"
The answer is, as above, a quarter and a nickel. The nickel is the coin that is "not a quarter." See?

If the second part of the question is "Neither of them is a quarter" then the answer will be "A 20 cent coin and a 10 cent coin" Many nations do not have a 25 cent coin.
