What are the five kingdoms of taxonomic classification?

[Edit]

Answer

A kingdom is a high ranked taxon in the hierarchical classification of life. There is one classification system that suggests there are only 5 kingdoms.

The bacterial kingdom Kingdom Monera/Kingdom Bacteria
The protist kingdom Kingdom Protista
The plant kingdom Kingdom Plantae
The fungal kingdom Kingdom Fungi
The animal kingdom Kingdom Animalia

Newer taxonomic research suggests there may be as many as 60 possible protist kingdoms. And some protists may now be classified in with the plants, redefining the plants as Viridiplantae and not just Plantae
