What do you call an animal that eats meat? |
[Edit] |
Answer
Animals that eat just meat or mostly meat are called carnivores.
Some examples are: lions and other big cats; wolves, coyotes, jackals and foxes; eagles, hawks, other birds of prey and vultures; fish; whales and dolphins; and bears (though bears can be somewhat omnivorous, meaning they sometimes eat other things besides meat, depending on what type of bear).
Actually, I think vultures are detritivores, living off dead tissue, although I know they occassionally take live game.
