What were the negative and positive effects of imperialism on China?

Positive Effects:

1. After the Open Door Policy, China could trade with other nations thus growing economically.

2. Chinese people had given up ways of life to the people ruling them. Thereafter they were given better education, better sanitation, and many other things, their loss of culture was far worse.

3. They learned new customs to better their culture. They also learned that they were the best and strongest culture in the world.

4. A whole group of people who wished for an Enlightened Emperor during peacetime; in the event that there is no enlighten emperor, an honest court official; if there is no good official, then an upright swordsman who would help them. So you see that the Chinese are living in a hopeful society because of Imperialism.

Negative Effects:

1. Chinese people lost a part of their culture and traditions.

2. Opium was also brought into their country which killed many people.

3. Chinese people and rulers used to think themselves the strongest nation in the world. They thought that they were born to be the most powerful and smartest guys of all mankind. Imperialism on China made Chinese people realize that they were not born to be so.

My Answer and Viewpoint

For me I do not see Chinese leadership at its fault. If we will go over its foreign policy.China has outreached its system to welcome every chinese primogeniture in the line of realm. China Policy on International Sovereignty and local Sovereignty. Was perfect but imperfect in a wrong time.

To analyz further; China had lost their culture indescriminately on Cold War era shutting her doors from global outreached.

If I could given a chance to Stand at My Grandfather Forbidden State once Again, I would be wearing same "Yellow Umbrella" in white banner and white roses for the Chinese people. Hope this time is the right time for us to be once again in harmonious and let us not allow brainwashing notions to destroy such fengsui promise for this country. icrowndk
